The dark purple awareness ribbon is for Crohn's and Colitis awareness, at least in Australia. Both are diseases which as yet there are no cures for, and can be somewhat debilitating.

Both Crohn's and Colitis affect the bowel, and a person who suffers from either can spend the day running for the nearest toilet with severe diarrhoea. It is unpleasant to say the least.

I know the feeling. Before I was diagnosed I hadn't really heard of it, and even now people still meet me with blank looks.

i'd never heard of it either but after i was diagnosed i found out that i had 2 relatives with crohns and 3 or so with colitis

i know :/ its hard to explain when theyve never even heard of it..one person thought i was contagious and ran away xD
